Obituary for Yolanda Ross

“Do for others even more than you would do for yourself.”

This is how Yolanda Ross lived. On January 23rd, 2020, she abruptly entered the Kingdom of God, while being in service to others.

Yolanda Ross, 74, of Pembroke Pines, formerly of Long Beach, NY, was born on March 19th, 1945, in the Republic of Panama. The daughter of the late Pedro Joaquin Bolivar and Christiana Cragwell, she was a student at Palacio Justo Arosemen High School. She would meet her future husband, Ricardo Ross, while they were both little kids playing in the streets of Panama. They met again in New York and were married October 27th, 1984.

When “Yoli” first came to the United States in 1965, she never imagined all the things that she would accomplish and experience. Her professional career would include the exciting world of advertising in New York City, working as a Benefits Consultant in the health insurance field all throughout Florida, and as a lover of travel and adventure, she would finally work at the Ports of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, assisting passengers and peers as an agent and lead. Yolanda was a 15-year volunteer with the Miss Florida Pageant and the Miss America Organization.

As a board member of Scholarship for South Florida in Broward County, she was dedicated to encouraging young women and men to fulfill their dreams and pursue a higher education. She was committed to uplifting everyone she encountered.

An example of unwavering faith and unconditional love, let her life be an inspiration. She was a devout parishioner of St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church for over 20 years.

Yolanda is joined in Heaven by her sister: Meliana Edwards-Cragwell, and daughter: Darlise Jackson. Survivors include spouse: Ricardo Ross; siblings: Lidia Bolivar, Esther Bolivar, Marta and Ricardo McClymont, Edmond and Faye Cragwell, Rolando and Marilyn Cragwell, and Janinia Cragwell; children:
Gladstone Jr., and Yazmin Jackson, Arnoldo and Christina Ross, Orlando and Yvone Jackson, and Randi Ross; and grandchildren: Yazmine and Dereck Scott-Jackson, Julian, Raven, Destin, Orlando Jr., Autumn, and Kiara Jackson, and Christion and Tyrell Ross.
